Ipona

Well, hello there family. So, how is every body doing? goood goood... it’s crazy with the new missionary age change, huh? Everyone was like freaking out and jealous that they didn’t do that early. This one Elder  today is freaking out because his girlfriend just about put her papers in. Oh boy. I think it’s a great change. There will be a lot more missionaries now. I think sending us to Argentina was a preparation for that because they are trying to make the Provo MTC less full. So conference.  I can’t believe I thought there would be no problems. I forgot that I am in Paraguay. Ha ha. But it was still great, but here is how the weekend went.

We missed the first hour of conference because we heard the wrong start time. The time change was yesterday, so it started at 12 on Saturday and 1 on Sunday. We didn’t know about the time change and thought it was at 1 both days. Anyway, the English transmitter was broken in our building, so I watched the first two sessions in Spanish. I could understand it but it just wasn’t the same. Hearing their voices makes such a difference, but it was funny because sometimes the translators would get choked up and start crying while they translated. So you hear this person crying while President Eyring is just fine. It was funny. But for priesthood meeting we went to the San Lorenzo chaple because the English worked there.  Boy, it was so good in English. At that chapel, guess what?! I saw Elder Dickson and Elder McSwain! My MTC buddies! I was so happy to see them! They came and gave me big hugs and were like, "We thought we would never see you again" So it was way nice to catch up with them.  Oh and in San Lorenzo I got this thing called lamito. All I can compare it to is a burrito, but the best burrito ever. Oh my, oh my. So Sunday morning, my companion was stressed because of the baptism. But it went great. The Sunday morning session is the one all the Paraguayans watch. They don’t really come to the other ones. So we had a good turn-out for that. Cristian came! It was great and some less actives we have been working with showed up. The baptism went amazing! I have never felt so much joy on my mission. Juliana was so, so happy! She was a little sad though because her daughters didn’t come. After we confirmed her a member of the church, when she shook my hand she just smiled at me and started laughing. She’s great. She was my very first visit here in Paraguay, and to see her go from rock bottom to the top is such a good feeling. She is so happy now. Her testimony she shared was wonderful. Then for the last session we realized we can watch conference online via internet in the secretary office. So I got to see the last session in English. It was great. I love conference so much! I learned a lot!

So our lesson with President was almost a disaster. But he and his wife came out to our area. (In their nice, nice, new 4Runner that we did a little off-roading in.) I loved that. But we get to Cristian’s house and he isn’t there. He was watching the soccer game. We are like, “Crap”... and it was 8:45. but then he showed up. Honestly, we taught a normal lesson but the spirit was so much more stronger. It was amazing. President is so cool. He is way cool guy. I love him. They are great.

So mom asked about my food schedule last week. This is how it goes: I eat breakfast, everyday I have cereal, usually golden grahams or strawberry frosted flakes that I eat that with sliced banana and sometimes yogurt instead of milk. Then we have lunch at 12. Lunch is the big meal here. They don’t really eat dinner. It’s all about lunch. So we have lunch with a member and always stuff ourselves. Then the rest of the day.. I snack a little bit, usually eat an apple. I don’t know... breakfast and lunch are the only for sure meals we eat.

So the other night, Elder Wheatley and I get home and I’m like, “Something is biting my leg.” He says the same. Then we realized we had a bunch of ants in our pants! So we run inside, take off our pants, and are getting them all off and stomping them on the ground. There were so many! They kept biting me! We actually had ANTS in our PANTS! Funny, huh? This week, we also discovered a papaya tree in our yard. I don’t think I have ever had it before, so I’m excited for it to get ripe. We also found out on October 27th Elder Bednar is coming to speak to the North and South mission - 400 missionaries. He’ll probably to chew us out because our missions aren’t doing so well. But I’m so excited!

Well.... all is well. Today I saw a guy playing Call of Duty online and it made me think of our Xbox. How is it doing? In good shape? Someone should go kiss it for me. hahaha. Ya, I just went blank... oh yeah! I saw a dog with human eyes this week. It was just staring at me during a lesson, kind of creepy. I felt like someone was hiding inside it watching me. One more funny story. This member, the other day, asked us if we had been in a certain area on a certain day. We were like, “Uhhh, how did you know?” She said because she saw my footprint and she knew it was mine because it was huge. Haha. Then after that, I noticed my footprints everywhere, they are quite unique.
